Can someone tell me how to clean silver overlay on glass? I believe there is a certain way to do it so the polish/water does not get under the overlay and develop blackspots. IP: Logged |

If the overlay was applied correctly at the factory, there should be no gaps between the silver and the glass. I would think a soft new sponge and a cleaner like Hagerty's foaming silver paste (not too much on the sponge) would work. Rinse and then towel dry gently and thoroughly. No long soaks in liquid. I think that some darkening of the silver on the underside of antique overlay is normal. On a trivet, no one looks at the bottom. Inside a vase or a perfume bottle, again it isn't really visible.
