I have been going through my grandfather's collection of cutlery et al, and have come acorss a bit of a puzzler. It is a bog standard plated silver fork, fiddleback pattern, with the following marks:

* E.P.CORTEZ
then a bit further
* P.A&S in a square shield followed by what appears to be an arm holding a flag, in an inverted bell shape shield.

Interestingly, the EP CORTEZ mark is less worn, is much clearer and is, for all appearances, to have been put on seperately later.

Can anyone help? I will (hopefully) be getting a digital camera shortly, but no pics at the moment.
