I have three large Dutch Silver spoons. I think they are salt or cream spoons. The markings however are quite confusing though. A couple of the spoons have 4 or more Hallmarks. Does anyone have any info on what to look for with these marks? Also I have number of smaller spoons with the markings DD.90. on back of handles. Can any one tell me what this means? Thanks again and very surprised that no one out there is familiar with the Eagle Silver Plate Co.(an earlier posting) IP: Logged |

90 is generally a silver content or thickness mark for German and northern European silverplate. Dutch silver is officially very well marked so your four stamps could be the silver standard, assay/duty mark, date letter, and maker's mark. Photos or detailed descriptions would help for a more possitive identification! [This message has been edited by Patrick Vyvyan (edited 10-13-2004).] IP: Logged |
