Regarding a so called ''beaver'' mark which was dealt with in a previous post long ago called ''animal marks''. i have a card tray with the following set of marks - J.S&S maker mark, a ''beaver'' mark, a crown and a gothic date letter. What i would like to know is if this means the item is silver or silver plated and if the crown is for sheffield thank you. [This message has been edited by fidda (edited 01-10-2005).] IP: Logged |

It is silverplated as identified by Brent in his post of 10-10-2003 on this thread click here (I am unable to identify this particular hallmark on a decanter stand) . The crown may have been intended to evoke Sheffield, but the maker was in Birmingham. [This message has been edited by Arg(um)entum (edited 01-10-2005).] IP: Logged |
