I don't know if there is a comprehensive list of the Presidential silver flatware patterns. I have heard that Gorham's "English King" was used by the Reagan's, "Chantilly" by Bush on Air Force ONE, it been said that President Madison had French silver flatware, etc. But, I'm not aware of a list of Presidential Whitehouse flatware patterns/makers. Atlantic Magazine published an article on Thanksgiving at the White House in 2015 and listed several patterns used by presidents in the White House for official functions. The Coolidges ordered International "Minuet" and it was engraved "President's House". It was used from 1926-1974 for official functions. Pat Nixon ordered Gorham's King Charles sterling which was a reintroduction of the earlier circa 1894 King George pattern. It has been expanded to a very large service of over 300 place settings and used for official occasions when the historic vermeil flatware is not. The article also mentions that Mary Lincoln ordered a service of Gorham's Josephine sterling flatware around 1860. I have read elsewhere that Presidents Wilson, Truman, and Eisenhower used Francis 1st as their personal sterling pattern. IP: Logged |
