Can you tell me anything about the Mexican Silversmiths (or hallmarks) "BETO" and "OCAMPO" (or "M OCAMPO")? I have a couple pieces with these marks, and the on-line references seem to skip over them. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Hi simplysimon, I, too, have run across the BETO and MO CAMPO marks on some of my Mexican silver jewelry but was unable to positively identify the makers. From what I have seen, these pieces appear to have been made during the heyday of Taxco Mexican silver production, 1940s-70s. The best reference source for Mexican silver marks is Billie Hougart's book "The Little Book of Mexican Silver Hallmarks," you could probably find a copy for sale on Amazon or possibly on eBay or Half.com. I recently sold my copy on eBay - it is a popular book so it went fast. Best wishes from Sue IP: Logged |
