[01-0351] e were surprised to find out that Tardy's has no coverage on Greek silver. We had an opportunity to discuss this recently with Panagiotis who is a Greek jeweler/silversmith on Mykonos. Our mutual language skills were limited, but he explained to us that silversmiths register (we believe with the government) and receive a unique identification number that they can apply to their silver. Panagiotis' number is 70.33. Does anyone have any recommendations for a good reference on Greek silver marks? IP: Logged |

Here is a necklace that June purchased from A. LeONDARAKIS silversmiths.
The ELKA quality mark is the hallmark of The Greek Centre for Silver & Goldsmithing S.A. which was founded in 1989. The Centre provides a Precious Metals Quality Control Laboratory in order to comply with the compulsory implementation of the relevant EU directive. The laboratory assays noble metals and issues the ELKA hallmark. IP: Logged |
