Hi goldresearch, I am assuming this is on a piece of gold jewelry. I am familiar with this maker. But first, do you mind telling us about your interest in silver (or gold) and posting an image of the entire item? Thanks! IP: Logged |

Hi Paul, why do you need an image of the entire item? The makers mark is applied on a silver collier (800/1000 parts silver).
We have a little analytical laboratory in Styria, Austria, specialized on assaying precious items. The items are tested on touchstone or by XRF, sometimes we need a fire assay for gold or a potentiometric assay for silver. We have a lot of customers and sometimes they ask us for an (old) hallmark or a makers mark too. Enough for the first time? Greetings from Styria IP: Logged |

Hello, your reply seems to indicate you are representing a commercial concern regarding your question here, which may violate the rules of this forum. Admittedly, I am not the one to make such a judgement call. Perhaps a little more information would allay the minds of others [more knowledgeable than I concerning this mark]. IP: Logged |

I earn my money with assaying precious metal items and not with the knowledge of hallmarks and makers marks. The most items I have to assay bear a makers mark or/and a hallmark. Many years ago I was served in an Austrian Assay Office for a long time and there is risen my interest on hallmarks and others. I'm collecting images or bitmaps of hallmarks in Europe. The results are shown in: Foreign Hallmarks [als.8ung.at/Punzen.htm - Gone from the Internet] IP: Logged |

Goldresearch, The format has been abused over the years and the information here is shared freely by the members without pay. We are here to learn and share. We like to see the items that are posted in their entirety so that we too can enjoy them and also learn. It sounds as if your interest is also in sharing and learning and I welcome you and your knowledge of Austrian marks and the assaying practices there. Sincerely, [This message has been edited by FredZ (edited 08-03-2006).] IP: Logged |

The URL you referenced has some interesting things associated with it. Noticed the Voss name a few times too. IP: Logged |
