A very unusual parure from Chicago's TC Shop:
If it didn't have a TC Shop mark on the back we never would have attributed it properly. The necklace is signed and marked. The other parts are not, and may be conforming pieces. We have several TC Shop jewelry items. The quality and style vary greatly. According to Sharon Darling in "Chicago Metalsmiths" the TC Shop was started by Emery Todd and Clemencia Cosio, and was in business from around 1911 to 1928, although in the later years the output may have carried just the "Todd" mark. Jewelry was designed by Cosio, and made either by Todd or Matthias Hanck. These pieces are atypical. Mark on the necklace:
Other TC Shop marks, on a necklace, a plate, and a cup: TC Shop marks are often confused with those of Newark's Crane and Theurer:
They're also consued with a mark used by Charles Thomae:
(Probably later) Todd mark: IP: Logged |

Thank you. The photos are great. The stone's color really stands out. They remind me of a very clear day in the Caribbean. I don't recall seeing the Todd mark before....Thanks again. IP: Logged |

Thanks so much for showing all of the marks and makers. When I first opened the thread and saw the top of the necklace, I thought nice color stones but when I finally scrolled down to the pendant my eyes popped. IP: Logged |

I had the same reaction, June. What a beautiful, if atypical, piece! IP: Logged |
