The firm of Becker & Lathrop is listed in Darling, showing a mark, but date and location unknown. I ran across this card which solves half the mystery:

James Becker and E Gilbert Lathrop went into the jewelry business together in Syracuse in about 1863. A couple years later James' older brother Daniel bought James's share of the business. They advertised in the Syracuse Daily Courier and Union throughout 1865 and likely beyond.

The Sandusky Register reported that on 19 October 1894 on one of the most prominent streets in Syracuse, New York Becker & Lathrop had been robbed of $2,500.00 in diamonds .

Becker & Lathrop were still in business in Syracuse in 1899. E Gilbert Lathrop continued to be listed as a jeweler with his own store through 1910. He was still living in 1920. Daniel's fourth son Charles is listed as a jeweler in 1900 in the U S Federal Census for Syracuse, New York. Daniel is not in the census's after 1880.
