I have been helping my friend the bookseller to sort through an enormous collection of miniature books. This booklet -- which I could not pass up, though it it is outside my interest -- measures 2" x 1 5/8" and is a typical bit of turn-of-the-century advertising. Has anyone seen examples of the firm's goods? IP: Logged |

Nice find. Obviously this was intended for local distribution as there is no mention of which city and state they were located in. Any idea where they were? IP: Logged |

London; Oxford St, W would have sufficed in the day to locate them. IP: Logged |

New Jewels for Old. Why keep old fashioned Jewellery which you cannot wear? Oh, how my heart aches to read that. [This message has been edited by Polly (edited 08-28-2008).] IP: Logged |

According to John Culme's 'Directory of Gold and Silversmiths', Berkeley William Fase (successor to Robert Lewis). Was taken as a partner by RL at 22 Oxford Street although the name of the business didn't change. BWF seems to have assumed control of the business c.1879 and the number changes to 50 Oxford Street (1884) where the business , now styled Berkeley William Fase & Co.remained listed until 1916 (BWF himself died in 1896 aged 78!)
