Hello, I've just aquired a tray on a pedastal. Don't know if its a candy/nut dish. Looks like I could put a candle on it. The mark underneath is Sterling and a Lion standing with both front paws resting on the shield. Within the shield is the script capital letter either E or F. That along with weighted and reinforced. The number 1124 is stamped as well. Any ideas on this mark and the approx age? Also does it being weighted and reinforced effect? IP: Logged |

I think it sounds like a Ellmore Silver Co. 1935-1960 in Merdiden, Connecticut. They are manufacturers of sterling flatware, holloware, and novelties. Don't take my word for it but it sure does sound like that might be what it is!! :-] IP: Logged |
