Hi -

I am researching a silver company for a friend who is an avid collector of American silver. She recently purchased a piece of Baker Manchester, and we learned that the original company merged with another sometime around 1913-1920, and the logo went thru a few iterations near that time.

I am trying to build an exact timeline of the companies and am looking for precise dates linked to events in the history of the company. Please let me know if you have any knowledge of this company's history at all.

Sincere thanks,
LT

Baker-Manchester operated in Providence, Rhode Island from circa 1914-1915 to the early 1930's.

It's not always easy to track the exact history of old silver firms especially when they have been bought up by a competitor not necessarily interested in preserving history. You might try the Providence Historical Society since that is where Baker Manchester was located.
