I just purchased an urn at an estate sale, and the only marks it has are "STERLING", #s "2669", and a laurel wreath with a sword. I think this is WATSON. The urn has a date, 1913, comemmorating an event & I believe thast is correct (actually 4 dates, that's the last. Can someone confirm the maker for me? The urn was from "National Biscuit Co." and is an achievement award. Thanks for any information. ------------------ IP: Logged |

What was the achievement award for? You might contact Nabisco to see if they can tell you something more. IP: Logged |

Wasn't it wonderful when people actually gave sterling trophies for achievements? THe Houston Museum of FIne Arts did a great show a decade or so ago called "Marks of Achievement" all about presentation silver in America, from the 17th century to the present. It was pretty cool--but they didn't really deal with "ordinary" trophies...but it's a great reference to understand the whole mind set that produced thousands of sterling loving cups, etc. between 1880 and 1930.
