Looking for information; I have a set of three "cups" different sizes all marked Superior Silver Company- quadruple on the bottom. They are engraved on the outside with vertical columns and scrollwork around top and bottom. Can anyone tell me about the company and what they may have been used for. Thank you, Tracey IP: Logged |

I don't have anything to say about the cups or their decoration, but "Superior Silver Co." was a mark used by the Middletown Plate Company. Are your cups truly marked with "Company" rather than "Co."? The Middletown Plate Company of Middletown, Conecticut was first started in 1864 and became part of International Silver Company in 1899. Both as Middletown Plate Company and as International Silver Company, their low priced merchandise was identified with the mark "Superior Silver Co." ------------------ IP: Logged |
