These are called psuedo-hallmarks in the collecting circles. They were used during the mid 19th century in the US. I do not believe anyone has yet attributed these set of marks to any specific silversmith. I believe the center creature is supposed to be a bison. Fred IP: Logged |

As Fred has indicated, the animal is an American Bison, or Buffalo; it is a rebus for Buffalo, New York. These marks are often accompanied by names of retailers in the Buffalo area. IP: Logged |
