I have recently come across an oval shaped silver dish marked Wm Rogers 419. The "m" is underlined and it has an eagle on one side of the name and a star on the other side. It measures 12-1/2" x 7-1/2" and has a fluted edge that is scalloped. I don't know anything about this. I am wondering if anyone can tell me an approximate age of this piece. Any help you could give me would be appreciated. IP: Logged |

The "(eagle) Wm. Rogers (star)" mark was used on silver-plated holloware (from 1938 to 1976) by the International Silver Co., Meriden, Connecticut. Your dish was made during that time. The "419" is a stock number. Hope this helps! IP: Logged |

quote: In the 19th century, many names were abbreviated in common use. William was often abbreviated with the m underlined, indicating that it was shortened. Thomas sometimes was also abbreviated THo with the o underlined for the same reason. ------------------ Anuh IP: Logged |
