Hi!

I picked up what I think are silverplate forks in a Hanoverian pattern with the following marks:

Can anyone identify these marks and possibly indicate the quality of the plating?

Thank you!

Note - updated hallmark drawing. The lrh figure is an "I" instead of a "1". The figure in the middle of the hallmark is indistinct.

Orfvrerie Chambly are a Paris-based company - still going strong! According to their site Orfvrerie Chambly
"Chambly was created in 1894 by a founding craftsman under the name SFAM.
At this time a 7000m2 factory produced flatware and some holloware. Chambly even produced its own nickel silver alloy for silver plating. Chambly silver plated and gold plated pieces are sold all over the world."

Elsewhere in their publicity:

"We use the best nickel silver base available. Each piece is silvered to the highest French legal standard guaranteed by the square hallmark. Our flatware is over plated to 150 g that means a thickness of 63 microns."

The central device in their mark is clasped hands. This appears to be their current mark:

The number I on your pieces indicates best quality plating - II would indicate inferior quality.

Thank you, Patrick! I neglected to do a web search on Chambly because I had a mind set that this was a town in France, not the maker. I appreciate your clearing up my confusion!

Actually you're not wrong - the original SFAM company did start out at Bornel, a small village near Chambly, about 40km north of Paris. They now have an address in Paris, but I don't know where their production takes place.
