Sandy unregistered	posted 04-17-2004 11:59 AM I have 6 forks, and have seen a ladle as well, with this mark: S in a diamond, S in a shield and P in a box or square shape. They are very heavy, does that mean silverplate instead of sterling or coin? Thank you, so much. I am new to silver collecting but find it facsinating. IP: Logged

They sold numerous silverplate flatware patterns manufactured for them by various companies. The SSP (Salem Silver Plate) mark was introduced in 1914 and used for many, many years. IP: Logged
