I have been given what appears to be a cruet of etched glass surrounded by silverplate in a lovely pattern. It was purchased in a French flea market around 1952. The hallmark reads as follows: "B" "WMI" "I/O" "OX" Above the WMI is what appears to be a bird. Below the WMI is the capital "G". Who is the manufacturer? IP: Logged |

The maker's mark is probably not "WMI" but "WMF", a well-known German manufacturer (full name: Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik). If so the article is likely from sometime between 1880 and 1925. IP: Logged |

Thank you for the information. I looked around various websites and believe you are correct. Pictures of WMF claret decanter I saw is very similar to the piece I have. Thanks again for identifying this hallmark for me. IP: Logged |
