I have come across a 5 1/2 inch diameter silver plate. I am looking for information on what the markings mean on the back. They read as follows: N.Y.C. Line, International Silver Co., Silver Soldered, 05018, 10 oz., There is a small square with what looks like the number 25 after the oz. marking. It would be great if anyone knows what all this means. Does anyone think this is worth getting an appraisal on? Thanks! IP: Logged |

I suspect it was made by International Silver for the New York Central Line, an old railroad. The 10 oz is a platers mark, which appears to be for commercial quality. This is railroad silver, which always has a following. IP: Logged |

Dale, Thanks for your input. I'll do some research on the railroad. mlangdon IP: Logged |
