[01-0982] This vase/pitcher was given to me by a relative who was getting rid of some of her "junk". I forgot I had it in a box with stuff that I was planning on selling in a garage sale. To make a long story short, I was showing my sister the piece as we were setting up for the sale and a gentleman approach me and ask if it was for sale. When told no, he told me to name my price. I have no idea what it's worth, what year it was make and who made it. I do know that it's not silver. It has EPNS on top and directly under it, it has three marks:
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks. Kim

The "man's head (facing right) with beard, crown, S" mark sounds like a mark of the Sheffield Silver Co. of Brooklyn, New York. The mark was used from 1908 to 1950. Photos would help. IP: Logged |

Thank you for posting pictures for me. I did a little research to find silver marks by Sheffield and the only one of the three marks that matched, was the script "S". As far as the numbers are concerned (5/54), I am lost. Any ideas now that you see the piece? Thanks, IP: Logged |

The Sheffield Silver Co. is now a division of Reed & Barton Corp. You might try contacting Reed & Barton at:

The 5/54 is a stock or catalog number. Where did you research the marks??? Did you check Rainwater/Redfield's "Encyclopedia of American Silver Manufacturers", page 302? IP: Logged |
