[26-1853] Hi out there I am a new member here so bear with me till I get used to posting. I have had in my possession for a good few years now a couple of pieces of old silver. (I think) one is a tea/coffee pot nicely detailed with a weird hallmark starting with a quarter moon a crown the numbers 800 and a capitol H with the words GebrüderFriedländer above it. The other is a smokers glass ashtray with a silver rim around the top with a candle holder, a match box holder a cigarette or cigar rest and 2 other prongs, this has another strange hallmark which starts with a capitol D a quarter moon the numbers 800 followed by th weirdest mark as it looks like an f with a shoe hanging off the bottom right hand side. I would appreciate some feedback on this as people ask me where they come from and how old they are and I am getting fed up with not being able to answer them. Photos available to email but I cant get them on the post, sorry. Mike IP: Logged |

Many thanks silverhunter, appreciate info, found these couple of pieces in a house clearance about 5/6 years ago (thats what i used to do for a living) and for some reason i couldnt part with them, they seem a little bit different, they have been sitting on my shelf for ages and they attract a lot of attention from my friends and guests, still got a few silver bits out in the garage, been boxed up about 10 years now, will have to dig them out, still cant do pics but if anyone wants to send me an email address will send them to you. Mikeh, now you make it just more interesting, boxes filled with silver. Let them see the daylight and please try to post the photo's. A lot of us, certainly myself struggled in the beginning, but it is possible, give it a try. There is lot of information about them I suppose, when I try a short research it is a good silversmith and there must me more information about this person and his silver work. If it is possible also try to make photo's of silver marks or serial numbers this also helps to get information! Succes. IP: Logged |
