Hi Gina. Welcome to the Forum. You mention you are a beginner collector which is great. It is always nice to have new faces among collectors. Do you think you will be specializing in French silver makers like Puiforcat or in flatware in general or of a special style such as nouveau or deco or whatever? To be able to help you with your spoon would you please take photo of the markings on the back and post them here. Please use your macro setting so you can get very close so we can see what the markings might be. Best, IP: Logged |

Your images sightly enlarged:
I don't know the pattern name but I have seen it before. Your marks are a little blurry but generally look right for Puiforcat. The Minerva’s head is unclear but if I was to guess it looks like it could be first standard which is 950/1000 silver.

As usual, Scott has provided good information - I agree with him that the markings appear to be those of Puiforcat and for .950 silver. While I do not recognize this particular pattern which is not surprising given that the company has been in business since 1820 and they still make silverware today and so there are a great many patterns of theirs, hopefully someone here will. If no one does, though, my suggestion would be to contact Puiforcat directly. Their main office is in Paris and they have a website that you can find easily by searching on their name. Their contact information is located on their website. IP: Logged |
