This is from an internet search of “Ruolz metal”. Ruolz was a name given to some silver plated metals. In 1841 a chemist named Ruolz discovered a way to gild or silver plate objects using silver or gold dissolved in cyanide of potassium. The term is sometimes used to describe an alloy of silver also discovered by Ruolz. Your spoon could either be the alloy form or it may be the silver plated form. Henri de Ruolz’s biography is interesting as he was not only a chemist, but also a composer. < IP: Logged |
