I am not German and my german language is not perfect. But translate Finesilber should indicate pure silver - i.e. 1000/1000 I reseve my answer - because in the business, standard could be another specific term. I read your question so that you already have indication that it is a bid under. And you request a term from the business. In Denmark a coin made of finsølv would be 999/1000, I just checked a coin from the Royal mint (Den kongelige mønt). IP: Logged |

Hi - Feinsilber is 999/1000 silver (used for coins and jewels) Feinsilber (chemical clean silver) is 1000/1000 silver. Regards IP: Logged |

I have seen where it is marked: 'Fein 900 Silber' and have had a collector tell me it is feinsilber. I disagree. Others have told me and shown a mid 30s piece marked Feinsilber 990. Thanks so much for the answer.. [This message has been edited by Gaspare (edited 03-18-2011).] IP: Logged |

Hallo The item was not marked finesilber but fine & silber where fine = good, in the sence a good quality & silber = silver The two words are not sopposed to be read as one word. But to be seen as "Good quality 900 silver" Germnan standard is 800 silver unless other specified. Without the halfmoon and crown - the item should be silverplated with 900 silver. You know in the surface of the silver item you remove the cobber to get this look of white polished silver. In plated items you use finesilver as plate to get same look. Therefor it is most likely silverplated and marked accordingly. [This message has been edited by Hose_dk (edited 03-18-2011).] IP: Logged |
