It would help if you would post (or send me) a closeup photo of the marks. IP: Logged |

quote: The mark is Munoz, followed by a sideways m in a circle, then a 5point star in a crcle, then it says sterling 916/030 or 000. I would like to know the country I am dealing with....is this Spanish? Is Munoz a company or a place? The tray measures 13 3/4" by 17 3/4" and has a border of 1 3/4" of elaborate filige' (sp?).. The handles extend out 2 1/2" I have been having a hard time getting info. on this. Thanks and I wait your reply. IP: Logged |

The marks on your tray (with filigree?) sound like they could include two of the Spanish marks required on silver made 1934 and later; maker's mark -- the sideways m? -- (should be in a hexagon), and quality mark (five-pointed star in an ellipse). The quality mark would represent the legal standard of 915 thousandths (tolerance of under 5 thousandths). The other marks (916/000 and Munoz Sterling) could be marks added by the maker, but not required. Munoz (Muñoz) is a fairly common Spanish surname. "Sterling" could also be part of a surname (Munoz-Sterling) or part of a company name. Just a guess, photos would help. IP: Logged |
