Hello. I am an online student in the school of library and information science at FSU. I have just recently received my Master's degree in this same subject and am now pursuing a specialist degree in library and information services for children and young adults. I would be pursuing a Phd in that subject if you did not have to go to Tallahassee physically in order to do so, so since I'm pretty well anchored to Gainesville, I am doing a specialist degree. I recently found a solid silver Japanese vase made, I believe, at the end of the 19th century or the beginning of the 20th century in Japan. I am posting a picture of the bottom of the vase. I know that the small mark means pure silver, but I'd like to know who made it. If anyone recognizes the maker's mark, please let me know. Thanks.

Here is a photo of the front of the vase.
I am researching it because it fascinates me. It is possible that I will sell it at some point, but right now I just want to know more about it, I haven't decided what I want to do with it yet. It is a very interesting piece. I know that the gold piece on the front is at least 14k gold because I have tested it and I know that it represents a Japanese family, that it is called a "mon". It stands about 6 inches tall and has several dings. That is about all I know about it. Thanks. IP: Logged |
