Hello, I have recently acquired a small but decorative cutlery set from my father. I have no idea of its past or its makers. The only marking I can find is that of "WH & S B P". Can anyone out there possibly tell me more about this cutlery set. Thank you in advance, Paul T IP: Logged |

Given that you live in England, this mark may well be for William Hutton & Sons of Sheffield. The company started in the early 19th century, and was taken over by James Dixon in 1930 although the name continues, I think, until the present. From your description, the lack of British official sterling silver hallmarks suggests your cutlery is silverplate. Photos might allow for a more possitive identification. IP: Logged |

B P may stand for Britannia Plate. Waylander IP: Logged |
