Dear Sir or Madame,

I have on a tiny silver Spoon. It has 4 marks, one has a W.P in a Diamond and like inside a almost heart shape, next has a Mark of a "B" in a 8 sided square, next has an Unidentifiable mark last has a "RD" mark in a diamond the "D" is over a Hash mark and smaller than the R mark.

Can you help.
Thanks so much.

Does it look like this mark?

If so, it is identical to one I have, a condiment spoon or some such thing.

The R with raised smaller D in a diamond is a British registry mark for recording all kinds of patrons. Since there are no silver hallmarks, my guess is that this is silver plate. See if you can read any numbers or letters around the R, especially in the rounded circles at the points. Hope this helps.

Hi,

Yes they look similar but the diamond shape are indented and not raised..I could see no other marks around the R..You are correct that it could very well be plate. Also could be a Baby spoon I was thinking?

Thanks for your help.

Great. The numbers or letters might help identify the year of the patent, the only way I know of to date plate, but, alas, mine are unclear as well. What I have has a small ladel shape, so you may have something different.

PS Our spoons were very probablymade by the same company. By the way, it is quite easy to post photos with a digital camera and some of the free websites listed under "how to post photos" above the forum messages.

Your spoons are indeed English silverplate, was made by William Page of Birmingham. The particular trademark pictured seems to have been used after about 1897.

Hope this helps!
