        The following images take you through the second angle of raising.


        This was all that is required for the height of this bowl and now I begin the smoothing process known as planishing. Note the hammer used for raising in the images above. This hammer leaves a fairly course surface on the metal and the planishing lowers the high spots and removes the indentations caused by the raising hammer. I have two weights of planishing hammers I use and both have smooth surfaces on both sides of the head. One side is more convex than the other. The choice of which side to use depends on the effect required of the surface.
