The making of the

Martin Bowl

by Fred Zweig, metalsmith
January, 2004 - 2017
page 6

The rim of the bowl is still irregular from the raising and now I must mark a line parallel to the base so I can remove the rough edge with shears.

I now divide the rim into 12 equal parts and sketch out the contour that I want. Next I saw out the petals with a jewelers saw and smooth out the edges with a file and then the polishing wheel to finish the edge.

At this time I will pickle the bowl and prepare it for fluting and finishing.
