"Most of the large "brooches" from the turn of the century art nouveau and arts and crafts periods are probably actually belt pins. Most manufacturers at the time made them. This piece is by George Shiebler and is huge - almost 6" wide and nearly 5" high. It is stamped out of a heavy sheet of silver. Imagine wearing this at your waist!"
