| "Another Kerr two-piece buckle featuring floral swags and winged cherubs, about 5" wide. Each element of this piece was stamped separately, each had its back soldered on separately, and then they were all soldered to a wire ring that gives an otherwise very fragile buckle, soldered only at the edges of each element, structural integrity. This was a means of obtaining a wide variety of different end products from stamping dies that were expensive to make and a large investment for any jewelry maker. The design and use of several elements in creative and different applications allowed for a broader variety of final jewelry products from an expensive investment in the dies, and reduced the cost of introducing new designs." |
