| "Here the winged cherub appears at the bottom of a one-piece buckle that features flowers, two angry-looking fish at the top, and a cherub playing a lute in the center. Although it is not shown, this buckle has a hitch in the back that allows fabric to be threaded through on one side, with a flat "hook" that would have clasped a separate silver wire or stamped piece that looked somewhat like a paperclip and held the other end of the fabric. Sometimes the simple side of the hitch is still with its original buckle, but more often it is missing. This buckle is about 2.5" diameter." |
