| "This is another Shiebler buckle, also of cast sterling silver, but in a more traditional design and with a traditional fastener design. This particular buckle was retailed by Tiffany & Co. and bears the mark of that firm. However, the clumps of three-lobed leaves on either side of the buckle is the clue -- this design element was extensively used by Shiebler on flatware, jewelry and hollowware, and perfectly matches designs which only bear the Shiebler mark. In addition, there are pieces which carry both Shiebler and Tiffany marks, and the connection between Shiebler as a supplier of silver to Tiffany for retail sale is established.
