| "Although the use of enamel to decorate buckles was quite common at the turn of the century, the use of matte or flat finish enamel is quite uncommon. This silver buckle has a solid finish of flat black enamel on its front. The maker is probably Bailey Banks & Biddle of Philadelphia and the fittings on the back suggest that it was made in the late 1800's or the early 1900's. It is about 2.25" wide." |
