| Pictured in this slide is a circa 1885-1890 scent bottle. Although the design of a fly applied to a hammered background is interesting (the design is the same on both sides), the quality of this unsigned example pales in comparison to the Shiebler scent bottle shown earlier. There is a visible seam where the two halves were joined (unlike the Shiebler example), the silver is not especially heavy, and the hammer marks may even be simulated. This is merely stamped "STERLING". |
