The next 3 slides are all from Trifari, the second largest maker of costume jewelry at the time, and felt by many to be the firm that produced the best designed and constructed jewelry.
Trifari design was overseen by Alfred Philippe, who joined the company in 1930 as a designer before ascending to lead designer, a position he held until his retirement in 1968. Mr. Philippe was born in France and studied at the Ecole Boulle in Paris.
After coming to the United States he worked for a company that was important in the field of precious jewelry and who counted Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels among its clients. The expertise he obtained in design and manufacture during those years was carried to his work for Trifari.
My Trifari pieces are lovely, but do not represent the best of the best of Mr. Philippe's design as those are, unfortunately, generally out of my budget range.
