Albert Coles 11.5 inch Coin Silver Ladle with Gold Vermeil Bowl

Albert Coles established his silversmithing business around 1835 in New York City & sold the business in 1877 to Montgomery & Company. This 11.5 inch large ladle has a beautifully engraved handle, twisted shaft and shell shaped with Gold Vermeil bowl. It is coin silver which was the prevalent U.S. standard for the time prior to the sterling standard which was adopted by most U.S. manufacturers by the 1890's. The ladle is in excellent condition. 4.466 troy ounces weight.
