Pseudohallmark. A term used to refer to marks resembling British hallmarks. Such marks were in common usage by many of the countries which had connections with the British Empire, but did not have hallmarking systems themselves. These marks are especially prominent during the 19th Century and include silver made in China for export, as well as silver made in Australia, Canada, India, Union of South Africa and the United States.
