Questions arose during Christmas dinner regarding the 'proper' Victorian method of eating olives and I'm hoping someone can answer them, even though they pertain to silver useage instead of manufacturers, etc. Olives must have been served in abundance, judging by the number of serving forks and spoons that can be found, but after a portion of olives was transferred to an individual's plate, what utensil was used? (Dinner forks are less than ideal for this purpose which is how the discussion came about.) Were olives served as a separate course or part of another? There are individual pickle forks but I've never seen or heard of an individual olive fork. Are the short olive forks that we use as serving pieces, in reality, place pieces? IP: Logged |

I'm sorry, but olive etiquette is different in every country they are grown in. Most consider them finger food. Sincerely, IP: Logged |
