I am developing a product that combines sterling silver with fabric such as silk, cotton, wool, leather or suede. Can anyone advise me of chemicals or processing used in fabrics/leathers that may increase the rate of oxidation of the silver. Thank you! IP: Logged |

Combining sterling and porous materials to be worn is asking for problems. Sterling tarnishes. It tarnishes even quicker when attached to any material that can produce sulfur gas. How will this product be cared for? Will it be dry cleaned? Will it be worn? Knowing EXACTLY what this product is will help in advising how it should be manufactured. If you don't want to display the product on this site, e-mail it to me privately at jherman@silversmithing.com. IP: Logged |
