Thomas Alva Edison maintained a winter home and laboratory in Fort Myers on the southwest coast of Florida. Aside from having the largest banyan tree in North America which is spectacular (400 feet in diameter), there is a smattering of silver, a sample of which is pictured below. The octagonal clock and the pen swipe with tray are Tiffany. This is a fun stop if you find yourself in that area. IP: Logged |

An interesting, if not eclectic, collection of silver. It may be worth noting that Edison was related on his father's side to the Baldwin, Whitlock, and Ward families of Connecticut silversmiths and clockmakers. If mechanical cleverness is carried in one's genes, Mr. Edison had a deep pool to draw on. IP: Logged |
