I have a silver 'bowl' which I got at an auction.

It came w/ a tray, but the bowl is what really interests me.

It is about the size of a cereal bowl and sits on three legs. Where the legs rest on the table they have lion paws and where the bowl meets the legs they have lion heads. It pins on both sides that allow the bowl's lid to slide perfectly under the dish. My questions are what is it?

OH WOW!!!

I'm wondering if you have a companion piece the the "fruit compote dish" that I own!!!

I recently acquired mine from our grandmother. The 3 legs that the bowl stands on are very much like lion paws and at the top where the bowl is located, is what I thought were ram heads.

The only information I've been able to find out is that my bowl is imprinted with "Tiffany & Co., 550 Broadway". According to information I've recently found, this was one of the earliest locations of Tiffany and Company...I believe until 1870. Mine also has 2 numbers - 1601 and 1456. I was told that the designer at that time was Thomas Moore.
