Does anyone have any comments on the CrystalClear buffing and polishing system, that has recently been up for auction? I would hate to try to use something like this on my silver, and then find out that it did more damage than good. IP: Logged |

I personally would not use a product on my fine silver that I did not know about. Abrasion of the metal would be my greatest fear. Many products are quite capable of polishing metal and producing a high luster and at the same time removing a significant amount of metal. I will stay with the tried and true products. I noticed that the product on ebay remaind unsold. IP: Logged |

I have been using 3M's poduct Tarni-Shield Silver Cleaner. You might try checking out The Society of American Silversmith's Websiite on Cleaning Silver: http://www.silversmithing.com/care.htm#Cleaning Silver I have not used the ebay product and would not until It could be proved to be as effective and with lower abrasion than the Tarni-Shield. Perhaps someone would be willing to do a comparison. I work in a variety of metals and use a great variety of finishes on my work.... Some require that I spend a great deal of time in the finishing process to get a high luster while on other pieces I dull the finish to a satin one for contrast or to help define the diffences in the metals I am using. I would be interested in what others use as polish for fine silver. IP: Logged |
