I have recently become aware of Amston. I purchased a set of 3 serving pieces and the Amston mark is just spelled out on the pieces, but saw a similar piece in the same pattern that had the letter "A" circled and 2 kind of triangles on either side of the circle. Judy Redfield's book does not show this mark. Maybe one of the marks was used after the company was bought by Ellmore Silver Co. The pieces that I have seen (photos) were in the 1891 Gladstone pattern, which is listed under Frank M. Whiting in Tere Hagan's book. IP: Logged |

According to "Sterling Flatware" by Tere Hagan...... 'Amston Silver Co. made flatware in the early 1900's. About 1940 the firm was purchased by Ellmore Silver Co. along with Concord Silversmiths and the Frank M.Whiting firm. The Arthur Stuart Company of Albuquerque, NM maketed directly to the consumer six old Amston patterns. The Ellmore Silver Co. ceased operations about 1960.' IP: Logged |

Rainwater, Jewelers' Circular/Keystone and Walter Drake all showed marks for Amston with the word "Amston" spelled out in script. There is no suggestion as to dates when this mark was in use. ------------------ IP: Logged |
