I'm not a collector, but have one piece that was acquired in Finland. It's some sort of measuring cup (for vodka, maybe?). It's a small cylinder with a 3-angled flared rim (pictures coming soon). It has a raised patch, approx 1/2"sq, soldered on the front just under the rim, stamped with two sets of marks, one consisting of a (crude) crown above 80 above 71, the other consisting of the same crown above 83 above 58. Midway down the front it is stamped with 4cl. On the other side, just under the rim, there is stamped ALP inside of a hexagon. Any info is appreciated IP: Logged |

Hello NH, I think you are probably on the right track with your cup. It probably is a measuring device of some sort. 4 cl probably means 4 centiliters. ALP seems to be used in some European countries as shorthand for Alpacca metal, or nickel silver. A search of this forum should turn up further information about Alpacca for you. I hope this helps! Thank you, Brent! Now I have a place to start. The person I got it from said the importance will be in what it is, rather than what it is made of. I'll let you know what I turn up. IP: Logged |
