I've heard about using quicksilver on the back of mirrors to help restore them.Is quicksilver a silver product and where can I find it ? IP: Logged |

My recollection is that quicksilver is a common name for the element mercury and I believe it was used for silvering glass at one time. Mercury is an elemental metal that is in a liquid state at room temperature and reflective much like polished silver. Caution: I would recommend finding some other way of restoring mirrors since working with mercury can be dangerous/toxic. IP: Logged |

Quicksilver is another name for mercury, a metal that is an element and liquid at room temperature. It was used in older thermometers. Liquid mercury slowly vaporizes. The vapors can be absorbed through the lungs. The liquid can be absorbed through the skin. Mercury accumulates in the body and is toxic. Do not use or even store mercury. IP: Logged |
