Well, to add to my collection of children's silver, I was delighted to find this child's food pusher here, in France... and doesn't it look like Gorham's!

American Silver is the thing I know the least about. So here's my guess. Gorham silver, Patented 1905, but made ?. (There's the French Swan in circle for the import mark. So I was sure "it ain't from hey-ah".) I could not figure out the pattern and where the Spaulding and Cie came into the picture?

Anyone have this info?

Merci for any help!

The pattern is TUILERIES, patented by Gorham in 1905.

Spaulding & Co. was a major retail company, headquartered in Chicago, IL, which had close business ties to Gorham. Some of Gorham's finest products, including a significant amount of Martele', was sold through Spaulding.

Gorham took over the Spaulding company completely in the 1920's, but it reverted to private hands in 1943.

Spaulding has/had a branch in England, and judging from your piece they had a branch in France as well.

I hope this helps!

Thanks Brent, It helped a lot! It led me to a search of the Spaulding Cie - The Paris branch was founded in 1888. (Interesting tidbit: H.A. Spaulding was the treasurer of the American committee to build the Statue of Liberty.)
